A Journey in Time

Having fallen in love in the original furniture and mood of this room, today's owners have sought to modernize modestly, with Italian design classics from yesterday and today.

Seehotel Ambach: Classic View, design

Design

The early 1970s, with its vibrant youth culture, was noted for its forms both simple and functional. The present, the first decade of the second millennium, is marked by flux, experimentation and eclecticism. Thus, a striking yellow Elmetto table lamp, by Italian lighting designer Elio Martinelli from 1976, juxtaposes the bright red of Vico Magistretti's Selene chair from the same period, and the contemporary red footrests by Japanese designer Toshiyuki Kita.

Architecture and Views

The Classic View double rooms are located on the first floor. The full-length windows dominate, welcoming the lake shore directly into the room.

The Bathroom

Lightly-coloured ceramic is the dominant material. The forms are linear and in some cases rounded. Also here, the contemporary facilities truthfully reveal the design, which unites the old and new. The result is a restrained minimalist elegance.
